University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland

UCD leads the Mpox AFRIVAC Project, leveraging its world-class research facilities, including the UCD Centre for Experimental Pathogen Host Research (CEPHR). The team, led by Prof. Patrick Mallon, specializes in infectious diseases and vaccine research, with extensive experience coordinating international clinical trials like MpoxVax.

Makerere University Lung Institute (MLI), Uganda

MLI is a center of excellence in lung health research and vaccine trials, led by Prof. Bruce Kirenga. With robust laboratory facilities and a nationwide health network, MLI has successfully conducted Ebola and COVID-19 vaccine studies while providing technical support to Uganda’s Ministry of Health.

Université Catholique de Bukavu (UCB), Democratic Republic of Congo

Located in the DRC, UCB combines expertise in clinical research and public health with a strong focus on epidemic-prone diseases. Led by Dr. Patrick Katoto, UCB contributes a regional hospital network, laboratory capacity, and experience in community engagement.

NIMR-Mbeya Medical Research Centre (MMRC), Tanzania

MMRC specializes in infectious disease research, including TB, HIV, and Ebola. With state-of-the-art immunology and biosafety laboratories, the center is led by Dr. Nyanda Elias Ntinginya, who brings over 12 years of experience in vaccine and diagnostics trials.

University of St Andrews (USTAN), UK

USTAN is a global leader in health data science, vaccine development, and clinical trials. The team, led by Dr. Wilber Sabiiti, emphasizes capacity building and innovation through initiatives like the St Andrews-Africa Health Research network.

Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI), Uganda

UVRI is a globally recognized center for virus research and vaccine trials, with expertise in immunogenicity assays and biobanking. Dr. Andrew Obuku leads the state-of-the-art BSL-3 laboratories, advancing research on viral pathogens and vaccine responses.
